About Me
I am a photographic artist based in Northern California and Switzerland, drawn to the space where photography, painting and abstract art meet.
My camera is an excuse to pay closer attention to the world. I am equally happy photographing city streets, flowers, people, and smaller, intimate landscapes. Any time spent outdoors exploring with a camera is always time well spent.
The creative process often continues long after I return home. Many of my favorite pieces begin as photographs and evolve through layering, blending, and experimentation, revealing unexpected connections between images and transforming familiar subjects into something new.
My Path
I was born in Virginia, raised in New York, and was handed a camera by my father at a very young age.
My husband and I first met in junior high school and together have four terrific grown kids. Thanks to his dual Swiss-American citizenship, we have the privilege of dividing our time between two remarkable places, each offering endless inspiration for my photography.
My first career was as a pediatrician, and in that role, I saw the value of art as it affects health. Here’s my take on that: art is good for our souls, our hearts and brains. Think of the calm that runs through you when you look at a beautiful landscape, photograph or painting. Think of how you reflexively take a deep breath at the beginning of a beautiful or fun piece of music. Beauty calms our souls. Pablo Picasso agreed:
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
Happy minds, calm souls and healthy bodies. The evidence for a mind-body connection is endless and strong. So, find your beauty, find art, and hang it up on your walls!
What I Believe
Art matters, and that we can find it all around us if we look closely. Often even the smallest most mundane scenes are quite beautiful when we take the time to look.
Art belongs in our everyday lives. The pieces we choose to surround ourselves with can bring joy, spark memories, inspire conversation, and create a sense of calm.
Art should be accessible. Beauty, creativity, and self-expression are for everyone.
I also believe in family first, love of all types, science, and did I already say it? Art.
